Frequently asked questions
What happens when I get in touch?
You can get in touch via my ‘let's talk some more’ form, by
emailing, calling or texting me. We will have a free of charge
initial phone call (20 mins or so) to understand a bit more about
each other and to see if we are a good fit! I will also ask you
some initial questions about what it is that is bringing you to
therapy and what you are looking for. If I am the right therapist
for you, we will book in our first session at a time that works
for both of us, I'll send an agreeement before the session & we
will chat this through as part of our first session.
What type of counselling do you offer?
As an integrative psychotherapist, I will tailor my approach to
meet your needs, working at a pace that works for you. My
integrative approach is predominantly made up of person-centred,
psychodynamic and emotion-focused approaches. I can also draw on
different approaches, techniques and use exercises within our
work, depending on what may be helpful to you.
I work with individuals over the age of 18 and worth knowing that
I don’t offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) within my
approach.
What can I expect from our first session?
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other a little
and begin to understand what has brought you to therapy. It can be
daunting coming to therapy and there is no expectation to ‘get it
all out there’ in the first session. We will take it at an easy
pace. I will send you a therapy agreement in advance, and we will
go through this together, as well as giving you an opportunity to
understand what you can expect from me and our work together.
How long does counselling usually last for?
Each session lasts 1 hour, and it is useful for us to work with
each other weekly, at least to begin with.
Therapy is different for everyone, so there is no set timescale
for our work together. We will spend some time working out your
goals for therapy and review these together along the way. I offer
short and longer term therapy, depending on what it is you need.
How much does each session cost?
Our initial phone call is free of charge.
Please contact me to discuss session fees, so we can set a fee
that works for us both.
A small number of concessions are available, please discuss this
with me if you would like to understand if this is something I can
offer you.
Are the sessions in person or online?
I offer online sessions via zoom, as well have a therapy room
offering face to face sessions in Lymm, Cheshire at Libertas
Therapy Rooms. I will provide all the details via email before our
first session together.
